Proposed use of CAPS technology to link to ClaimWatch
The letter recently sent by members of the CAPS Consortium to our customers offers to ”provide full function two way automated links to ClaimWatch”.
Over the last seven months or so we have been working with BMS (one of the CAPS Consortium) to create easier two way linking between ClaimWatch and their (ie the BMS) management system for the benefit of our mutual bodyshop customers. We have both invested significant time and resource and the link is being achieved using our technology alongside some of the CAPS technology.
We have yet to achieve a fully functioning link and BMS are currently addressing the shortcomings in the linking arrangements. When these have been resolved the link will need to be properly tested.
The CAPS linking technology has not been used to construct functioning links with any other management system and we have also indicated our concerns about shortcomings in the CAPS linking technology to the other two members of the CAPS Consortium.
We will report further when the outstanding issues referred to above have been addressed but we would suggest that bodyshops should defer making any decision as regards CAPS until these issues have been resolved.
We do believe bodyshops will benefit from improved linking and will accordingly continue to work with management systems suppliers to achieve this.
